FAQs
XLC Pro or XLC Ed?

With our free XLC Ed subscription you can download a limited functionality version of XLC which displays a “Non-commercial use.” watermark on equations. With an XLC Pro subscription you also get unrestricted functionality version of XLC which renders equations without watermarks. Full details below.

XLC Pro - No watermarks or hyperlinks.XLC Pro for Commercial Users - If you use XLC for commercial purposes you need to pay for an XLC Pro subscription. One subscription is required for each XLC user. Choose XLC Pro plans and no restrictions apply to XLC or the ExcelCalcs site whilst your subscription is active. You will be prompted to renew your subscription just before it expires. If you allow your XLC Pro subscription to expire XLC continues to work but it reverts to XLC Ed mode (see below).

XLC Ed - Watermarks and hyperlinks to ExcelCalcs.comXLC Ed for Educational/Trial Users - If you use XLC for educational purposes and expressly not for commercial purposes you can enjoy some of the benefits for free but at reduced service level. Select the XLC Ed plan but be aware of the following restrictions.

  • XLC Ed is strictly for non-commercial use.
  • XLC Ed renders some equations with a watermark stating "Non-commercial use."
  • XLC Ed renders equations with a hyperlink to the ExcelCalcs site.
  • XLC Ed disables the following button Delete XLC Functions“Delete XLC Functions”.
  • No Repository downloads (limited to XLC Ed area only).
  • XLC Ed has a limited life and will require reinstallation every 3 months. This is not a problem if you have administrator rights on your computer but it will be disruptive for larger organisations with separate computer administration teams.
  • XLC Ed plan only last for one month when you will be required to renew your subscription. We hope you upgrade to XLC Pro plan but you may select another XLC Ed plan.

Please note that when XLC expires only the ability of XLC to redraw equations will cease to work. Those equations already drawn remain as graphic objects and all Excel functions (including XLC functions) will continue to work. There is never danger of not being able to use your excel file or loosing time you have invested in developing a spreadsheet.

Volume Discount When You Buy a Corporate Coupon

What is a Corporate Coupon? - it is just a text code (e.g. "FGT6G5F7") that totally offsets the cost of a new subscription or a subscription renewal.

Why Buy a Corporate Coupon ? - to benefit from our generous volume discount policy.

How we calculate volume discount
Volume Discount Curve

P = Price of single XLC Pro (12M) subscription
N = Number of XLC Pro (12M) subscriptions
r = Volume discount factor = 0.85
U = Unit Price = P x N(r – 1)
T = Total Payable = P x Nr

How to obtain a volume discount - Please email or telephone to discuss.

For example if you require 15 XLC Pro (12M) subscriptions:

$90.00 = Price of single XLC Pro (12M) subscription
      15 = Number of XLC Pro (12M) subscriptions
   0.85 = Volume discount factor = 0.85
$59.96 = Unit Price = 90 x 15(0.85 – 1)
$899.33 = Total Payable = 90 x 150.85

We will send you a PayPal invoice for $899.33. On receipt of funds ExcelCalcs will generate a Corporate Coupon which can be used 15 times.  The purchaser is responsible for the distribution and use of the Corporate Coupon within his organisation. There are no time limits on the use of a Corporate Coupon.

Note: If you do not wish to pay by PayPal we will consider other methods of payment for orders over $500.

How to use your Corporate CouponProceed to purchase an XLC Pro (12M) plan using the Paypal button (but don’t worry the coupon settles the bill before you get to Paypal). Proceed through to the ExcelCalcs checkout page where you’ll be prompted to enter your coupon . Your XLC Pro (12M) Corporate Coupon will totally offset the cost of the plan, you will not proceed to PayPal and you will be immediately subscribed on the XLC Pro (12M) Plan.

Talk it through with us.What We Offer Our Corporate Clients -  We give live presentations online to any potential corporate customers (using Microsoft SharedView and a Windows Live™ ID). Microsoft SharedView allows a group of people at a number of remote locations to share applications and talk via Windows Live Messenger or Skype.

Live demos are a great way to clear up any misunderstandings and quickens the process of bringing ExcelCalcs and its productivity benefits into your corporation. Some frequently asked questions are:

  • Are we tied in to ExcelCalcs forever? - No calculations made with XLC are in a native Excel file format, equtions are simply graphics. If XLC is removed from computers only the ability to re-render equations is lost (along with the XLC toolbar).
  • What Productivity Benefits Can we Expect? Our User Survey shows that productivity benefits from ExcelCalcs save an average user 23% of their working day. The longer you spend doing calculations the more time you save; so the top 16% of users save over 45% of their working day. ExcelCalcs offers a significant cost reduction compared to traditional solutions like Mathcad and Mathematica and it works directly with Excel which everyone has, everyone knows and everyone can read. The majority of ExcelCalcs users are American engineers who earn an average salary of $72,200. Thus the average saving per ExcelCalcs user is $16,750.
  • Do you offer training? Yes - and clients who purchase training can offset 20% of the training cost against XLC Pro subscription costs. Select your own training modules to suit your organisation.
  • Can you prepare calculations for us? - Yes we have prepared calculation templates for many clients and we offer engineering analysis services beyond Excel. Our main business is engineering consultancy we offer ANSYS finite element analysis and strain gauge test services. Internet Explorer May Double Count Downloads

Users navigating the site with IE (Microsoft's Internet Explorer) will double count the downloads if the site not in the users's trusted zone. When you visit a site which uses the automatic download prompt, the Information bar appears instead of the download window. This is due to a security enhancement to protect the users from rogue websites. To download the file you need to click the Information bar and select Download file option to download the file. This is all well and good but it results in a double download count and will restrict the number of files you can download ina 24 hour period.

To get the most from the site you need to add www.ExcelCalcs.com to your trusted zone to avoid the problem altogether.

There is also a problem with the automatic startup of downloads in IE7. This is because of a block put on automatic JavaScript running when a window loads. You can remove the block by enabling the security option "Allow websites to prompt for information using scripted windows" which is near the end of the list in Tools - Internet Options - Security.
