One of the features that I use in EXCEL is the Format Painter. Specifically, I use the double click feature to paste the format of one cell to several others. For some time (seems like a long time) when I try to use this feature the "double click" that is used to copy a format with the Format Painter and paste it to several other cells has quit working. After some investigation and finding that no one else had this problem, I tried to use the key stroke equivalent for the double click of the Format Painter (Ctrl+Shift+C) to see if I could then use the Ctrl+Shift+V to paste the format to multiple cells. To my surprise I received the "Equation Clone not possible because no equations were found above the current cell position" notification. So, I disabled ExcelCalcs to see what happens. The double click on the Format Painter worked fine. Of course I turned ExcelCalcs back on because I really use it more than the Format Painter (double click). Is there a way to use both ExcelCalcs and the double click feature of the Format Painter. By the way, the Format Painter will work to copy a format to just one cell.

I did forget to mention that this began when I started using EXCEL 2010 . . .

Sorry I have been a little tardy in getting back to you Clyde I have been on holiday and needed to get back to my machine to check out this problem. Firstly you are educating me a little bit here - I had no idea that there is a key stroke equivalent for the double click.

I am using Excel 2010 and the latest version of XLC Ribbon V13.09.01 and I have a similar problem. The double click 'sticky' paint button is indeed lost when XLC is installed - it functions correct on a single click but a double click behaves as a single click.

Might I suggest that you continue using the work around you suggest and temporarily disable the XLC addin when you wish to use the double-click 'sticky' paint button. I'll have a think about if I can offer any better solutions. Thankfully I don't think many buttons have double-click 'sticky' functionality of the paint button - so I hope the issue is limited to the paint button.

Thanks for reporting this in Clyde

Sorry Clyde I am feeling a little embarrassed for forgetting about this issue. I have done a little review of possibilities by reference to a list of Excel shortcuts on Chip Pearson's excellent website

As you can see there is little room for manoeuvre. Also this list is not fully comprehensive as nothing is shown for Ctrl+Shift+C which we have found to be the shortcut for double clicking the format painter button.

XLC uses Ctrl+Shift+C as a shortcut for Cloning an equation - I'll change this to Ctrl+Shift+L which will free up Ctrl+Shift+C for double clicking the format painter button. I'll test this out and publish an update in a few days time. Thank you for the reminder and for your tenacity
