If you find yourself searching through ExcelCals Repository, it means you are either looking for a spreadsheet that can help you solve a problem or you are looking for materials to help you improve upon your excel programming skills. i say with all confidence that you are at the right place.

I think Turan Babacan has set the way forward in the "next generation" of excel programming. He has a unique and consistent way of developing his spreadsheet that i think is worth emulating. Please search through the repository for the following Excel programs from Turan and study and compare them very well:
1. EXCretwall
2. ExcelSta2D
3. EXCsta_3D
4. ExcelFEM

All this programs feature a very nice and interactive graphical user interface, One-time-click navigation, no macros and easy-to-use layouts. I believe we can all make use of the strategies he has adopted in his programs to enhance our spreadsheets. Keep up the good work Turan, and thanks to John Doyle for making this platform available.

Thanks for your comments crystalinv Turan's work is simply masterful. The most enjoyable part of running the site is meeting people like Turan and learning how they get the best out of Excel. I was thinking about writing an article on top ten calculation tips for Excel. Here is a flavour of what I mean.

  • Use of consistent systems of units.

  • Validation of calculations.

  • Transparency of calculation method.

  • Use of drop down lists (data validation or combo boxes).

  • Use of charts to provide a graphical response to user input.

  • Use of calculation menus to separate constituent parts of a calculation.

  • Use of data lookups (tabular lookups or curve fitting data).

I would be very grateful for any other tips and suggestions.
