Formatting Equations 1 Year, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Is there a way to format the equations so that they appear in the same text as the other data in the spreadsheet? I started working on a spreadsheet over a year ago, and I seemed to have gotten the equations to look similar, but now I get a completely different font and spacing. I would also like to change the multiplication character to something larger, but still a dot centered in the font height. The options has a place to change the multiplication symbol, but how do I get somethinmg other than a keyboard character?

I also run into a problem occasionally where after bringing in an equation, when I try to click on a single cell several vertical stacked cells will highlight. Can I get back to a single cell, and what is the cause?

The equation takes its font characteristics from the cell where the EQS() function is located. Change the font characteristics of the cell containing the EQS() function and redraw all worksheet equations. When this functionality was introduced back in 2008 we made a short video see here www.excelcalcs.com/site-news/excelcalcs-...mation-in-xlc-03_08/

You change the multiplication character using the "About XLC and settings" button . Quick start help video No. 6 will be useful to watch too. Copy and paste the "·" character into the form - this is higher than the decimal point character "." - there is also keyboard short cut code in MS Word:
type "2219" then "alt" then "x" and "·" should appear.

I also run into a problem occasionally where after bringing in an equation, when I try to click on a single cell several vertical stacked cells will highlight. Can I get back to a single cell, and what is the cause?
I think you have merged the cells. To un-merge select the merged cells. Then a right chick with the mouse button should show "Format Cells" - select the "Alignment" tab and under "Wrap text" and "Shrink to fit" you'll see "Merge cells" - just uncheck this box and all should be good again.

I hope this answers all your questions.

I have a similar problem. After bringing in the equations, if I click anywhere on
the spreadsheet, a stack of cells gets selected rather than just a single cell.
If I just keep clicking around on the spreadsheet, it seems to go back to a single cell selection. Odd.

This seems strange HarmonEngineering. I can't see how XLC could cause this to happen. Would you like to attach your spreadsheet and I'll take a look at it.
