Hi bpierson:

The vertical line is the so called 'pipe character' some time shown as a split vertical bar -- the key is located above the 'backslash' key under the the 'backspace' key.

I hope this helps.<br><br>Post edited by: yogia, at: 2007/04/13 23:09

A US keyboard is laid out differently to a UK keyboard or a French keyboard so it may be more difficult for some users to find the "|" key. The character has an ASCII code of 124 so if you hold down the 'Alt' key on any keyboard and type in the numbers "124" the "|" character appears when the 'Alt' key is released.

You can use the Excel CODE() function to determine the ASCII code number for any character. The CHAR() function produces the character from an ASCII code number.<br><br>Post edited by: JohnDoyle, at: 2007/04/14 00:13
