Min max excel function not showing names/numbers in formulas 1 Year, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
It should read =min(bw,1;bw,2)
Second row should read =min(490;500)
Is there anyway I could accomplish that?

If i use min with range so ":" between numbers then it shows the formula =min(b35:b37) in cells E33 and E34.

Equations can be shown in an algebraic form or a numeric form using this button Algebra/Number. This is documented on our help page.

XLC may have difficulties rendering equations when the cell name includes a "," character as it is a delimiter symbol used by all Excel functions. Could you rename the cells without the "," character?

The question is not about "," in name. For me the problem is that when using excel min or max function XLC does not show xlcnames in equations.

Priit, can you attach a sample and I'll take a look?

Sorry for a bit slow on the uptake Priit. I understand your problem now. Unfortunately XLC only allows you to name single cells so the use of a multiple cell range like B2:B5 will not be rendered. The range B2:B5 covers cells with XLC names of b, c, d and e.

As a work around you create two cells one containing the formula =MIN(B2:B5) and name this cell 'Min_b_e' and another cell containing the formula =MAX(B2:B5) and name this cell 'Max_b_e'. If you use these in subsequent formulas the the names 'Min_b_e' and 'Max_b_e' will be displayed in xlc equations.

I hope this makes sense to you.
