Then it is not better than just writing the equation myself. I hoped that I was missing something.

Engineering calculations have a lot of situations when you have to take the minimum value from set of calculated values....

Excel 2013 introduced a native function called FORMULATEXT() which displays the cell formula of reference cell. Perhaps this will give you the functionality you are looking for?

The purpose of our XLC software is to make auditable engineering calculations using Excel displaying cell formulas as mathematical equations. If you follow the work around I suggest then a hard print of the document will produce auditable engineering calculations suitable for third party scrutiny.
