Unistalling a damaged installation 9 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I just got a new computer at work and I am getting an error that XLC.dll can not be found. I know this is because the computer doesn't have XLC installed on it. Somehow IT did an image copy of my old settings which is making the computer think XLC is installed on the computer which is not.

Before I try to install XLC over the top of the error message, does anyone have any suggestions on how to uninstall the XLC toolbar or at least get rid of themessage?

Thanks,

Jim

I guess the easiest way is to run the un-install program but maybe you can't do this if it has been deleted. fortunately there is a manual way of un-registering XLC

Follow these instructions to un-register manually:
1) goto start button and select 'run'
2) type in 'cmd' this will get up a command prompt window.
3) Un-register XLC.dll by typing 'regsvr32/u XLC.dll' into the command prompt window. - you should get a message saying you have succeeded in un-registering.

Hopefully this will work.

Tried it, it didn't work so there must be something else going on related to the image/installation my IT department did. However, if I install XLC the error goes away.

Thanks anyway.

If you have reinstalled XLC jim. I guess that you tried Start>All_Programs>XLC>'Uninstall_XLC'. Did this solve your problem?

Yes I tried it and it didn't change things. So I am convinced this has to do with the image/method my IT department uses to transfer user data from old computers to new computers.

It is quite the puzzle, but fortunately if I leave XLC installed the error doesn't show up.
