We had developed a ribbon version of XLC running under the 32 bit Excel 2010. We assumed that getting this running on 64 bit Excel 2010 would be straight forward. Unfortunately it was much more involved that we first imagined. Coupled with this we have only had 2 request from users who want to run on 64 bit Excel 2010 (yourself and Keith Sharp). Most users are following Microsofts advice and installing the 32 bit version of Excel.
Microsoft recommendation:
We recommend the 32-bit version, which runs great on both 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows. People who routinely use very large documents or spreadsheets that need more than 2 GB of memory may want to run the 64-bit version, but many common add-ins for Office don't run correctly in the 64-bit edition.
The only use advantage of the 64 bit version of Excel is to access more than 2GB of memory whih may be of interests to data analysts but not really a constraint for engineering calculations.
Finally we decided to continue offering one version of XLC our software which works on all versions 32 bit Excel (2000, 2003, 2007 and 2010). We are now not intending to realease a version for 64 bit Excel. I apologise for raising any false expectations.
