Unfortunately I could not get ExcelCalcs to work with Vista and Office 2007.

I do not have Windows Vista installed on any of my machines or Office 2007. Has anyone out there managed to get it to run or do I need to investigate this further?

Works fine in Vista for me.I'm using Office 2000 though

I also have it working in Office 2000 and Windows 98

I tried it on Office 97 in the early days and there was a hitch with the installation, but this was fixed in a later version of XLC. There was also a problem with the "About" menu but this is relatively minor stuff so I would say that it will work in Office 97.

Not sure about the combination of Vista and Office 97 but it sounds like it should be Ok.

Post edited by: DaveCwork, at: 2007/03/29 13:59

Hi Dave:

XLC works on EXCEL 2000 and later versions. I had tried it on EXCEL 97 and when it didn't wotk, John Doyle explained that because use of XLC needs COM to work with and John stated that COM became available with EXCEL 2000.

Dave if you or John Doyle did indeed make it work with EXCEL 97 ... please confirm and post some more details -- that would be a really good news for those who are happy with, and are still using, EXCEL 97. I upgraded from EXCEL 97 to EXCEL 2000 just so I could try out and use use XLC.

Hi Yogia

Sorry I didn't get around to replying earlier but this one must have slipped through.

I got it working on Office 97 just by running the install file...at first there was a problem there since the install shield replaced a couple of system files that it shouldn't have (it replaced a Win98 DLL with a Win 2000 or XP one I think)...John sorted this one out and XLC then installed ok.

The next problem was the "about" dialogue wouldn't open and so I couldn't set the defaults I wanted. This may still be the case..but I don't think it is too much of a problem since the defaults are OK in general and anyway we can modify them in the cell that sits behind the equation metafile.

Dave
