Subscripts in variable names 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
Sometimes it is desirable not to have all multicharacter names subscripted. For example, one can set variables to be scaled units such as nT or pT. Then equations can be written using the scaled units so the numbers are easier to read. I have attached a simple spreadsheet that illustrates the process. I was able to change a text of a variable from n with a T subscript to nT and it stays in the equation but when I tried to do the same with pT the variable reverts to p with a T subscript whenever the equations are refreshed.

It would be convenient to be able to enter scaled units either automatically or by manually editing. Everything works manually now except for the automatic changes to variables. Can the existing system be improved?

Thanks

Greg

Thanks for your question gduncan its one I have added some notes to the site help on the name equation button so it does not cause confusion in the future. See the text under the flash tutorial.

No the file did not upload properly. I did an upload test to check that it was not a site software problem but it worked fine for me. Maybe a connection glitch?. Have a good weekend.
