I have encountered a problem with the RSS link.
Internet Explorer 7 reports the following:-

Internet Explorer does not support feeds with DTDs.
Go back to the previous page.

This feed contains a DTD (Document Type Definition). DTDs are used to define a structure of a webpage. Internet Explorer does not support DTDs in feeds.

Actually it seems to work Ok if I press the Feeds button on the tool bar rather than selcting the link on the page

You are on to something here Dave. The Forum RSS feed work perfectly in Firefox but I get the same error message with IE7 which states

I use the feed with Firefox to check latest posts in the forum. I will investigate further. Subscribe to this topic to be advised of any progress.

Have not made much progress on this but there seem to be a lot of other people having problems with IE7 (search on "Internet Explorer does not support DTDs in feeds" to see). I think you could use the google reader http://www.google.com/reader (or Yahoo have a similar rss reader as does Bloglines). The feed you need to subscribe to is: http://www.excelcalcs.com/index2.php?option=com_joomlaboard&func=sb_rss&no_html=1
