When creating equations using other tools such as equation editor I often find that the equation looks a little crowded (particularly when greek characters are used). The solution to this is to include the multiplication operator to help space the parameters.

XLC allows the use of an x for this although this doesn't always help and could be confused for a parameter in some cases. Brackets can also be used to help break up the equation. However my preference is to use a combination of spaces, brackets and a dot operator (a full stop or period at mid height).

So my suggestion is to add the option to use a dot for the multiplication operator and include the facility to add a space between characters (less important but sometimes helps for things such as Cos^2(theta)).
