adding extra symbols to formulas 5 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello

recently I´ve had a problem with equations. Something is adding some extra symbols to the equations I´ve made. At first when working with the file there are no problems with it, equations are correctly shown, but after closing excel and opening it again, the problem has begun.
I add a picture also about the file.

Yikes this looks terrible but there are some clues as to what is going wrong. XLC is telling us that a number of cells are not named.

May I refer you to the help page and in particular the requirements for a named Cell

If you wish please attach your file so that I can examine it in more detail.

After working with the same file for an hour again, repaired some equation faults, there has been even nastier error coming up. Saved the file, closed it and when I opened it again then excel say´s that "Excel found unreadable content in this file. Do you want to recover the contents of this workbook? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes."
After clicking Yes, I see that excel has lost all the sentences, words and everything else but the numbers and formulas inserted to cells.
It has happened few times more in the past, that´s why I have usually make some extra save as files not to lose everything once.
Can you tell me what can cause this error? Is excel itself causing this, or coping the equations may bring it up?

There are no extra strains posed on excel due to equations and the file should save and load without any difficulties. As far as Excel is concerned equations are simply graphics and all the code used to save a file is purely Excel.

I have also taken a look at your excel file and I'm afraid it is very strange indeed. I don't think you fully understand what XLC is doing. Perhaps I could suggest that you follow the tutorials on the help page. This will show you how to use the software and how it can help you verify cell formulas in Excel.
