Description
Checks a wood column (built-up or solid) for axial load only members. Calculation verified 2005 Edition of Examples-Structural Wood Design Solved Example Problems. Calculation is using LRFD and is based on NDS 2005.
LRFD 2005 NDS p134 Examples p3 WOOD COLUMN DESIGN. May be built up or not. First find critical load combo by doing this: 1.4Pdead/0.6, (1.2Pdead+0.5Psnow)/0.6 and so on. Basically find combo that is has highest axial load to time effect factor (See NDS p170 Table N3 and ASCE Ch2).
