Hatch/Door Actuator Design



I used this to calculate the required force to open a boat hatch using a hydraulic actuator. User can input the hatch length, weight and cg location relative to the hinge. The location of the actuator mounting points, also relative to the hinge, can also be defined. The spreadsheet calculates the force that the actuator would need to reach equilibrium and graphs the force vs angle curve from 0 to 90 deg. Always use safety factors for lifting anything overhead!
